Lois J. Vroom was born in Pella, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree summa cum laude from Central College in 1991. She then attended law school at the University of Iowa where she received her Juris Doctor with High Distinction in 1994. While attending law school, Lois participated in the Appellate Advocacy Program and was appointed to the Moot Court Board in 1993.
Lois joined the former Brierly Law Office in 1994 and engaged in the general practice of law. In 1997, she became the Assistant County Attorney for Marion County where she represented the State of Iowa prosecuting a wide range of criminal and juvenile cases, including Children in Need of assistance proceedings. She returned to the firm in 1999 and devotes most of her time to family law related issues including divorce, child custody, visitation, child support, modifications, paternity actions, adoptions and property divisions. Lois also has significant experience in the division of pensions after a divorce and the preparation of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders.
Lois has been and remains, actively involved in the community. She has served on the Jasper County Habitat for Humanity Board, as well as the Capstone & Capstone Community Foundation Boards. She has also served on the Board of Directors for Turning Point, a non-profit organization serving the survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Marion and Lucas counties. She is also a member of the Judicial Nominating Committee for the 5A Judicial District. |
